About The Familiar's Tale
Every magical girl’s story begins with a calling, a quiet pull toward the things that make her heart glow. For us, it was always books. Stories were our refuge, and our constant companions. And alongside them came our love for cute stationery, tiny charms, soft colours, and the gentle rituals that make reading feel like a little spell of its own.
But the path to ordinary work was never simple. Living with disabilities meant the world often moved faster than we could follow, and the spaces we tried to fit into weren’t built with me in mind. So instead of forcing ourselves into a life that dimmed our light, we chose to build one where our magic could actually shine.
That spark became The Familiar’s Tale, a small indie bookshop and stationery studio born right here in Congleton. A place where every book is chosen with care, every handmade piece is crafted with intention, and every Familiar (that’s you) is welcomed with warmth, softness, and a little pastel enchantment. A home for anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t quite fit, and for anyone searching for a space where they can simply be themselves and feel truly seen.
Our dream is to grow this magic beyond my home and into the heart of our community. One day, we hope to bring our physical bookshop to life, a cosy little beacon of stories and quiet corners that deserve a touch of wonder. But Congleton will always be the heart of the tale. This is our home, and we want to give something back, a space where readers can gather, create, rest, and feel seen.
The Familiar’s Tale isn’t just a shop. It’s a sanctuary for story lovers, a soft place for neurodivergent and disabled folks, and a tiny spark of magic in our town. And every time you step into this world, you become part of the spell that keeps it alive.
Welcome home, Familiar.
